So I suprised everyone and showed up on the Monday night ride which just happend to be the first ride of the 2009 Winter Ride Challenge Series. It was great to see some of "my boys". I figured I'd try to mooch some extra points off Robert for coming the farthest to be on the ride. Without missing a beat, he says, in that dry humor that you're not sure if he's being funny or not: "No. Shawn Meredith is coming". Dang!!

I only rode because I HAD to.
I think I got frostbite.
I'm starting my own Wisconsin Winter Ride Series. No challenge. I get big points for today.
So far, I'm winning.
I think riding the trainer on the balcony should count too.

Blue Mounds State Park

I love hiking in the winter. And it was winter. Snow on the ground. Snow falling in big fat flakes. Beautiful. Cold. Outdoors. Mmmm.

Shoulda

Shoulda worn the Batman costume at Iceman. Dang. If I had thought of it before the ride, I would have.

My goal at Iceman was to start last and finish last so I'd have the whole trail to myself. I definitely started last. That was easy. I just couldn't finish last. I rode with some other gals for a while, but I just couldn't go as slow as they were going. Not even on a pleasure ride. It was a beautiful day. Cold and crisp with some intermittent patches of sun and hail. The dirt and decaying leaves smelled awesome and the crazy bumpy downhills were a BLAST. My 30 pound full suspension bike just ate up the bumpy downhills, and was a good workout on the uphills. I GOTTA get a new mountain bike. Carbon perferably. I think I'll try to sell that tank this winter at the swap meet.
